In keeping with IBM’s stated roadmap to continue to enhance and improve the IBM i operating system that runs on their IBM Power server platform, IBM have this month announced their latest version – V7R3. Without doubt this demonstrates to the IT community IBM’s commitment to the operating system, with IBM stating additionally that, right now, the next version is being worked on in the Rochester and Beijing labs! IBM will continue to commit to the ‘regular semi-annual delivery of easy-to-deploy IBM i Technology Refreshes.’
News flash – IBM i 7.3 is supported on selected IBM Power Systems servers with POWER7, POWER7+, or POWER8 processors only. Clients using Blades or PureFlex systems, and those using servers with POWER6 or POWER6+ or earlier processors, need to move to newer systems to take advantage of V7R3.
