As we approach the festive season and reflect on the tumultuous year that has been 2023, both globally and on a personal level, it’s fair to say it’s been a challenging one for most. Luckily, many of us can still provide the basic necessities for ourselves and our families – clothing, warm food, heating, you know, the things that we take for granted.
However, for many, this isn’t the case. Even in seemingly affluent areas, a shocking 70% of young people go to school without an adequate breakfast. This isn’t due to parental choice, but rather the inability to afford a healthy and sustainable diet.
Over the past twelve months, Recarta and the Double Decker Food Company have collaborated with local community projects to provide meals for various age groups. We’ve covered everything from providing 200 breakfasts for the children of a local school to delivering lunches for pensioners. These lunches offer not only nourishment but also a much-needed opportunity for social interaction, which for some may be their only contact with others during the week.
So, as we head into Christmas 2023 and beyond, our gift and thanks to all our clients is this: we’ve committed to dedicate at least one day a month to supporting local community projects and are actively seeking new opportunities to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
