Silverstone was the latest venue for the Teekay Couplings Production GTi Championship, where once again Martyn Walsh was racing the Recarta IT branded MK2 Golf.
After some electrical gremlins left Martyn unable to qualify, he was forced to start race one from the back of the grid. In atrocious and pretty dangerous conditions, he was able to carve his way through the field to bring the car home in third place and give the team a podium finish – richly deserved after all their hard work to get the car fixed in time.
Race two was even better, in thankfully dry conditions. Martyn started third on the grid, and took the lead with three laps to go to secure the second victory of his career: “I’ve have never been so happy to see the chequered flag!”
