Recarta IT Limited today announced it was the geography winner of the 2025 IBM Partner Plus Award in the Modernisation—Accelerating innovation through infrastructure category for EMEA.
In 2022, our client announced a far-reaching strategic shift: it was closing its main datacentres and migrating IT systems to the public cloud. All group companies were asked to prepare a plan for exiting their existing datacentres and for getting workloads up and running on cloud by mid-2024.
Working closely with our client – a leading pension management company, Recarta designed a private cloud infrastructure that spanned two greenfield datacentre sites in the UK.
IBM technology sits at the heart of the pension management company’s cloud infrastructure. The computing core is made up of two IBM Power E1080 servers, deployed at separate datacentres, which run the IBM AIX operating system and Oracle Database instances. Alongside this, a Lenovo x86 environment supports 250 VMware virtual machines.
The pension management company also makes use of IBM Power Systems Private Cloud with Shared Utility Capacity to support multisystem resource sharing and by-the-minute consumption of on-premises compute resources. This allows the company to take advantage of on-demand resource allocation, gaining public-cloud-like flexibility and scalability while maintaining high levels of control, reliability and security. For added agility, Recarta assisted our client to enable a hybrid cloud approach, connecting its private cloud environment to select application instances running on the public cloud.
With Recarta supporting and the project, the pension management company has successfully landed their private cloud, keeping it in alignment with the group’s cloud-first strategy. It has allowed the company to embrace a more modern technology infrastructure that’s empowering its business to run better than ever. It will use this as its secure foundation to the 1.9 million individuals and institutions who count on it to secure their financial futures.
