IBM recently announced the end of support for IBM i v7r2 which will go end of support on 30/04/2021. We highly recommend that you upgrade to IBM i v7r3 you are not already at this version.
If you are running IBM i v7r2 after the 30/04/2021 under your existing IBM Support and Subscriptions, if you encounter an OS issue you would not be entitled to support under the IBM Software Maintenance Agreement as you are in effect running a version which is no longer supported.
Your options after 30/04/2021
Options available to clients running v7r2 are as follows:
- Upgrade to v7r3 to ensure continuity of support/subscriptions and reduction of potential security risks.
- Remain at the current version but no longer be entitled to support (providing you continue to renew your annual subscriptions you will still have the option to upgrade to v7r3 when you are ready to do so – but no support will be provided at v7r2.
- Purchase an IBM Service Extension to provide extended support whilst you remain on v7r2 until you can upgrade to the latest version.
